About Us

Vuilleumier family members, whose work is seen here, have been involved in artistic & literary activities for over 60 years.

Pierre (Peter) Vuilleumier, patriarch (1875-1955).

He was gifted in art since youth and became a serious painter upon retirement in Laconia, NH in 1942.  A member of the Laconia Art Guild, he exhibited his works in art shows and sold many paintings.

Edmund Louis Vuilleumier of Newton, MA (1913-1943).

Louis was the son of Pierre.  He was a graduate of Massachusettes College of Art and taught at Swain School of design in New Bedford.  He exhibited his paintings of New England scenes and also had a gallery at Bearskin Neck in Rockport each summer before his death in World War II.

Pierre DuPont Vuilleumier, (1908-1980).

Also a son of Pierre. He was a Congregational (UCC) clergyman who wrote many sermons.  Before entering the ministry, he studied architecture, and so, his avocation was art.  He produced many paintings of New England scenes and illustrated several books.

Marion Rawson Vuilleumier,

Author/historian and widow of Pierre DuPont Vuilleumier, Marion published articles in many magazines and newspapers after selling her first story at age twelve for $5.00 to Baptist Junior World.  Since moving to Cape Cod in 1960, she has produced 20 books, taught creative writing at Cape Cod Community College and was founder of the Cape Cod Writer's Conference.

Louis Edward Vuilleumier
